The ALPS and IMD partnership rocked the  blow molding industry with the first showing of the Total Bottle Inspection Solution (TBIS) system at the 2018 NPE show.

 The full family of TBIS Solutions were released at Pack Expo 2018 in Chicago.  ALPS had a working TBIS-M Multi-Moving head leak tester with an integrated five camera IMD solution at the show.  The machine demonstrated the capability to detect leaks as small as 0.004” and identified visual defects in bottle geometry, contamination, diameter and many other visual defects critical to quality. The same technology was also applied to the SC Linear Single Head (TBIS–S) and the Ultra-High-Speed Rotary (TBIS–R) to create a full line of combined technology machines. “The market response has been incredible,” said Mike Lawson, General Manager of ALPS. “Finally, two proven world-class technologies have been combined to provide a seamless easy-to-use solution for our customers. This is what the market has been asking for.

”The new TBIS line will have all of the capabilities currently provided by both the leak test and vision system with room to grow. “We have already designed opacity measurement into the TBIS and have other inspection technologies in the design chain to be released in 2019.” said Mike. “Being able to offer our customers the benefits of these technologies integrated into a single space-saving design, at a very competitive price point, has really changed the game.”
